The opening and closing of the dog park is under the direction of John Howe,
Superintendent of Parks . The entire park was re-seeded this past October with a new hybrid grass from Indiana University.
The first year is critical to the establishment of this new hybrid. Once the grass is established, we hope that the opening
and closings of the park will occur less often while meeting the requirements of the town, the dog owners and their dogs.
 Spencer’s Run is an attractive, fully fenced, 1.5 acre dog park located
in Waveny Park, New Canaan, CT. It is enjoyed by people and their dogs every day from dawn to dusk. Please read
the rules before entering the Park. If you are a first time visitor we encourage you to take a minute to click on the
link "Helpful Hints". Remember, all dogs must be licensed and that Spencer's Run is a playground for dogs
and not children. The New Canaan Park and Recreation Commission, along with the New Canaan Animal Control Officer, oversee
the activities and volunteers at Spencer's Run.
