The New Canaan Dog Park - A Community Treasure

A Spencer's Run Reminder:

Please be cautious and mindful about what types of balls and toys are given to your dogs and or cats. Small balls and small toys could easily get lodged in the dogs throat or even swallow them.

The simple rule is; If it fits into their mouth then its too small for them to play with.

Who we are

Friends of Spencer's Run Inc. also referred to as FOSR and is a Connecticut not-for-profit corporation and is certified under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code for tax deductible contributions. FOSR is not a membership organization, it is a private charitable organization.

Under the charter, FOSR is operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes .

The nature of the authorized activities are conducted for the purposes of:

1/ The establishment and support of off-leash dog parks in New Canaan, Connecticut open to all dog owners and their licensed dogs

2/ Support of the health and welfare of dogs

3/ The education and training of dog owners and their families on the proper care and handling of dogs

To pursue these objectives by (i) soliciting and receiving gifts, contributions, grants, bequests and devises; (ii) holding, investing, reinvesting, managing and administering funds or other property received; making distributions of funds or property; and (iv) engaging in various activities in support of FOSR corporations purposes.

Thank you for visiting Spencer's Run and for taking such good care of our wonderful dog park. It is a place of joy and camaraderie for so many four and two footed friends even in these days of mud and ice.

Spencer’s Run is an attractive, fully fenced, 1.5 acre dog park located in Waveny Park, New Canaan, CT. It is enjoyed by people and their dogs every day from dawn to dusk. Please read the rules before entering the Park. If you are a first time visitor we encourage you to take a minute to click on the link "Helpful Hints". Remember, all dogs must be licensed and that Spencer's Run is a playground for dogs and not children. The New Canaan Park and Recreation Commission, along with the New Canaan Animal Control Officer, oversee the activities and volunteers at Spencer's Run.
